Green Wealth

I came across an intriguing book called Green Wealth: How to Turn Unusable Land Into Moneymaking Assets in the Burlington Barnes and Noble. (The authors have a website.) It presents some neat ideas for creating "eco-banks" (for wetlands, endangered species etc.). I happen to be thinking about this right now. Our cohousing community bought a parcel of almost 60 acres. We have agreed to hold 31 acres as conservation land in perpetuity. Additionally, another 17 or so acres are set aside as "green space". In essence we have created a land-bank. I wonder if there are any "eco-credits" to be realized from this transaction (apart from the very real brownie points).
