Total Health Support Group

I like to work with numbers. Numbers make it easy to measure and track your total health. Here's a preliminary idea to create a total health profile by numbers.

The first item is fitness. Physical fitness comprises three aspects: flexibility, endurance (aerobic fitness) and strength (anerobic fitness). These can be developed through a variety of activities: walking, yoga, running, dancing, kickboxing etc. Here is an article that gives 3 simple tests to measure your total fitness. It does not give absolute levels, but since the idea is improve your own health, that should not matter.

Then there are 4 numbers that more-or-less provide an instant snapshot of your current health and your potential longevity:

  1. Blood-pressure
  2. Blood-sugar
  3. Cholesterol profile (HDL, LDL and Triglycerides)
  4. Weight/BMI/waist size

I would like to form a group of people who are interested in improving their Total Health. We will start by taking a snapshot of our current state of health and create goals to improve our Total Health. Social support will be a critical part of this. I know I will do this if I am a part of a group that meets regularly! We will of course start off at wildly difference levels on each of these measures. What matters is not where you start, but where you go and how much fun you have along the way!
