Indian Chop-suey

  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 29 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 lb whole wheat pasta (I use macaroni or rotini), cooked
  • 1/2 lb green peas, cooked (I microwave them)
Heat oil in a medium saucepan, add mustard seeds. When the seeds start popping add onions and saute until translucent. Add garam masala, garlic, ginger and saute for 30 seconds. Add ground beef, mix well and cook until done. Add tomatoes, mix well, bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Add salt. Add cooked pasta & peas and mix well.
